Historic Franklin, NC, is expected to host The April Fool's Trail Days -- A Celebration of the Appalachian Trail -- on the weekend of March 30th 2012. (Unless, of course, this is an elaborate hoax. Time will tell, eh?)
Franklin is a mere 11 miles from the AT and is the perfect haven from the often cold, rainy weather in early spring weather. The celebration expresses this Appalachian Gateway Community's encouragement to thru-hikers headed north to Katahdin.
Saturday, the April Fool's Trail Days Festival will be in full swing with great entertainment and food. Special workshops and exhibits are planned, along with world-renown visitors, including Jennifer Pharr Davis, the women's record holder of the fastest thru-hike of the AT.
