The 2016 ALDHA Gathering in Williamstown, MA, will be their 35th annual. ALDHA stands for Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association.
As in 2011 and 2014, the Gathering will be on the lovely campus of Williams College, starting on Friday, October 7th and finishing up nicely on Sunday the 9th. We're thankful for the Williams Outing Club's sponsorship of the venue.
The registration table will open on Friday at noon, although ALDHA does not have access to any Williams College facilities until 5 PM. If you arrive early, enjoy a walk around the campus.
All of the weekend's workshops and events will take place on the Williams campus, with the exception of camping, Friday afternoon registration, and the Saturday evening reception, which will take place a few miles off campus on the property of Eric White at 237 Oblong Road.
The opening night program will be jam-packed this year with a special memorial tribute to "Baltimore Jack" Tarlin.
Guest presenters, "Farmer Chef," "Mama Bear" and their children, will talk about their family hike on the Appalachian Trail. Take part in the annual roll call of thru-hikers, starting with the class of 2015 and going back in time to the last person standing.
Afterwards, members of the class of 2016 and SOBOs of 2015 will stand to receive a certificate and patch from ALDHA. Be inspired for your own hike through life at the Gathering.
