Great Barrington A.T. Community Celebration

Our friends in the Berkshires invite you to their Great Barrington Appalachian Trail Community Celebration with hikes, trail maintenance, and a potluck supper on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

Massachusetts' Great Barrington Trails & Greenways knows how to show folks a good time in the woods.

Meet up at 9 AM to join volunteers for a bit of trail maintenance, hardening the steep trail section near the South Wilcox shelter. Bring a lunch, water, and work clothes. Sweat will be provided.

Take an afternoon hike at the Benedict Pond Loop Trail and hit the A.T. with a short climb to "The Ledges" for fantastic views. Or, take it easy around the Pond Loop Trail, with lots of great lake views and chances to see wildlife. It's great for families.

Afterward, join in the AT Community Potluck Picnic at Benedict Pond around 5 PM and enjoy cheerful tunes from the Berkshire Ukulele Band! Bring your favorite picnic food to share. Swimming & campfire provided. Hungry thru-hikers might join the fun! (They're easy to find: simply stand downwind.)

AT Community Day is sponsored by Great Barrington Land Conservancy, MassParks, Greenagers, Appalachian Trail Conservancy and the Appalachian Mountain Club.
