National Trails Day 2016, from the American Hiking Society

National Trails Day

Go take a hike on National Trails Day, June 4, 2016! That's the advice given by the American Hiking Society, the parent organization of the annual event.

National Trails Day events will take place in every state across the country and will include hikes, biking and horseback rides, paddling trips, birdwatching, geocaching, gear demonstrations, stewardship projects and more.

This celebration of America's magnificent Trail System occurs on the first Saturday in June and promotes outdoor activities that celebrate the importance of trails in the United States.

National Trails Day events introduce thousands of Americans to hiking, biking, paddling, horseback riding, trail running, and bird watching and more. It's a wonderful way to showcase beautiful landscapes and special locales around the country.

All 50 states will have opportunities for hikers to seek out new forests, new uncivilized places ... where you can boldly go where others have gone before!
