We have until the end of February to nominate new members for the Appalachian Trail Hall of Fame Class of 2016. The AT Hall of Fame was organized by our friends with the Appalachian Trail Museum in Pine Grove Furnace State Park near Gardners, PA.

Future members of the Appalachian Trail Hall of Fame will join some amazing company:

  • Myron Avery
  • Gene Espy
  • Ed Garvey
  • Benton MacKaye
  • Earl Shaffer and
  • Emma "Grandma" Gatewood, are among the two dozen current members.

The Hall of Fame recognizes those who have made a significant contribution toward establishing and maintaining the approximately 2,190 mile footpath that passes through 14 states from Maine to Georgia.

Larry Luxenberg, president of the Appalachian Trail Museum Society says, "Nominees should be people who have made a significant positive contribution to the Appalachian Trail and who have unselfishly devoted their time, energy and resources toward making the Appalachian Trail a national treasure."

Inductions will take place on Friday, June 3, 2016, at the Appalachian Trail Hall of Fame Banquet at the Allenberry Resort in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania.
