Our dear friends with Right to Hike, Inc. invite you to the 8th Annual Ella's Run, a 5K & Fun Run.
This event is a tribute to Meredith Hope Emerson who fell at the hands of a murderer. Nevertheless, her impact on our lives could not be quelled.
Meredith went missing on January 1, 2008 while hiking in Blairsville, Georgia. A massive search and rescue operation immediately began during which thousands of people from across the country contributed time, money, and energy to help find her. Meredith's story gained national media attention.
She was found murdered on January 7. The overwhelming outpouring of support in January 2008 was a testament to Meredith's goodness and vibrance. Her family and friends, acquaintances and associates, all remember her with a fondness that is inspirational.
Right to Hike was organized in Meredith's honor.
Ella's Run will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center in Buford, GA starting at 9:00 am.
This year's Right to Hike event offers a timed 5K course that participants can choose hop, skip, walk, waddle, run or shuffle along. There's also a one-mile fun run/walk.
You're encouraged to bring your dogs!
Ella's Run will have live music, drawings for valuable merchandise donated to Right to Hike, interesting vendors, food and drinks, a beer garden and a place to meet incredible people.
All proceeds will go towards Right to Hike's main focus of donating emergency cell phone units to local parks, trails and greenways ... to ensure your right to hike without fear.
