Forget online dating sites, the true romance that our hearts seek is to hike the Appalachian Trail. The trouble is ... it's not a crazy, unreachable goal. Men, women, kids, dogs and a fugitive or two do it all the time.

Reading stories about folks out on the Trail is like hearing of two Made For Each Other people finding one another and heading off to some expensive seaside resort on the Mediterranean Sea, after dropping tons of money on a lavish wedding near thatched huts at the end of docks perched atop pristine waters. WE should be on the Trail, not them.

But I digress....

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who are going to hike the Appalachian Trail and those who are not; unless you count the groups who actually plan to hike but don't make it or the folks who never plan to hike the AT but do so anyway.

If you are (probably) not going to hike the Appalachian Trail, you can still enjoy a good deal of it from wherever you are, whenever you're there.

You can follow along with adventurers seeking to thru-hike right now. We have links to their stories and we add more all the time.
