On clear days I can see the mountains of Northeast Georgia, as I drive. On cloudy days, I can't. Spring is "right around the corner" but most of us can't see it. Yet. To stay busy in the meantime, we've been blowing away some of the cobwebs in dusty corners of AppalachianTrail.com; specifically, our Trail Mix and Famous Places on the Appalachian Trail menus.

We've perked up our Attractions and added new spots to the Famous Places on the Appalachian Trail that we've visited. Need some dandy fodder for a daydream or two? Pick a link and have a mini-vacation for a few minutes before Reality reminds you there's no time to go there. Yet.

In the Trail Mix section, you'll get bundles of advice. Most of it is excellent. A few links, such as the ever-popular Doctor Grumpy's Ten Tips for Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers, might not be what you'd expect.

Trail Mix is a combination of movie reviews, Trail guide reviews, travel reviews and stories of kind folks we've met on the Trail. You might not be interested in How to Deal with Your Period on the Appalachian Trail or need Seven Rules for Camping Near Bears, but where else can you find tips on Tick Bite Prevention on the Appalachian Trail with the perfect music to check for ticks!

See? You didn't even know how much you needed AppalachianTrail.com this spring!

Pretty soon we'll all be whining about how hot it is. Carpe the dang diem. Turn off your distractions and delight yourself in the wonders of the Appalachian Trail ... right where you are ... until you can hit the Trail yourself.

"Hiking the entire Appalachian Trail isn't hard. Just begin on Springer Mountain in Georgia and head north until you mount Mount Katahdin. Pffft. How hard can that be?" said no one ever. ~~ Photograph by Robert Sutherland
