In ages past, our forefathers and foremothers referred to this time of year as "spring." Wiser people now populate our land.

Sages and sagettes now call this season, "What the heck is going on with this insane weather?"

Not all the folks on the Appalachian Trail right now are in or near Hot Springs, North Carolina, so the warnings below might not affect you or someone you know on the Trail. You can, however, open the link and insert any other town or zip code for a more applicable forecast.

We are not trying to frighten anyone or blah, blah, blah. March into a blizzard naked, if you want to ... or consider the warnings for high winds and freezing temperatures as you make your plans.

Totally your call.

"Hiking the entire Appalachian Trail isn't hard. Just begin on Springer Mountain in Georgia and head north until you mount Mount Katahin. Pffft. How hard can that be?" said no one ever. ~~ Photograph by Robert Sutherland
