Dahlonega is The Best City in the Country.

The town square is simply perfect. Even when street musicians aren't playing, you can hear the remnants of the olde tyme music that visitors love to watch and tap a toe to.

If ever there were a place created for first dates, popping The Question or celebrating a treasured anniversary, it's Dahlonega.

The south side of town is anchored by the University of North Georgia and Chestatee Regional Hospital. To the north are some of America's favorite roads for motorcycling and trails for hiking.

To the west, the great American pathway -- The Appalachian Trail -- begins atop Springer Mountain.

Dahlonega's fame among Appalachian Trail enthusiasts extends beyond its mere proximity to the Trail.

The town welcomes adventurers who hit the Trail and sends them off each spring with the Dahlonega Trail Fest. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy appreciates Dahlonega so much the town has been awarded the honor of Appalachian Trail Community.

Dahlonega's Appalachian Trail Fest 2014 was a rare time for hikers to gather together to share past victories and fantasies of future hikes. Music, speakers, video presentations, vendors and celebrities added extra value to the experience.

If you missed it this year, make plans to encourage a stranger to Hit the Trail at Dahlonega's Trail Fest 2015.

We hope you'll enjoy a few sights from Trail Fest.
