Vogel State Park -- a few miles south of the Appalachian Trail (AT) Community of Blairsville, GA and a few miles north of where the AT crosses Route 129 at Blood Mountain -- is one of the most beautiful spots in America, in my humble opinion.

There are only a few things that can make Vogel better than it already is ... considering the friendly people who camp there ... the lakeside cabins that are perfect for writers seeking solitude ... the beach and lake and paddle boats and cozy trail around the lake ... the museum dedicated to the Civilian Conservation Corp ... the abundant picnic tables ... the putt-putt golf for family fun ... grills everywhere ... pavilions for large groups and private swings for contemplation and affection ... fishing ... sitting quietly, unplugged ... enjoying trees swaying on the hills ... children laughing and taking delight in the fact that you're not at work.
